8" Diameter Filter for Coarse Dust

STEP 2
Dust Collector Configuration

Select the Air Volume required or the Fan (hp) Horse-Power required.
CHOOSE A MODEL LISTED BELOW TO CONTINUE CONFIGURING YOUR DUST COLLECTOR SYSTEM.

REFER TO THE BROCHURE IF NEEDED  catalog/b_broch-2012a.pdf

Note: If uncertain of air volume requirements for your shop, a good starting point is to itemize the machines to ventilate. Note their port sizes in diameter (inches). Then look up these diameters on our charts here http://www.kraemertool.com/CFM.htm or look up the machine type on same chart and note the recommended CFM per machine or calculate the port areas. ***IMPORTANT STEP***

Multiply each area- Eg. 6"dia. port (Cross Sectional Area = 0.1964) x 4500 ft/min = 883.8 CFM airflow required.
Do this for each port until you have the total airflow required. Then select a KTM model that is closely matched to that airflow volume.
Eg. Total airflow = 4600 CFM Therefore use: Model B15/15 Type B Dust Collector which is rated at 4900 CFM.
Note: 4500 ft/min is the recommended air speed of dust in the ducting by NFPA in order to keep the dust moving down the pipes. Various dust types require different air speeds.

Note: The various model arrangements only determine if the unit has several features in addition to the performance that particular size will generate. Items such as: barrels under the unit for dust storage, whether or not there is a hopper, or a rotary airlock and fan locations as well as support steel for larger bins and lastly, platforms and access ladders if the unit is taller, usually located outside.

Std, Arr1 & Arr2 are considered indoor/outdoor units as they are relatively shorter in height. The remaining arrangements (Arr 3 - Arr 7) are on structural steel to allow larger bins and access ladders and platforms due to their taller heights. Determine which arrangement works best for your particular application and select that during final configuration along with other features required.

The designated sizes listed below are to determine inlet size, HP of fan and CFM or the performance of that particular size dust collector.

EG. B13/10 3600 means: 13" inlet diameter, 10 HP fan & 3600 CFM.
